Nickel Biosorption by Acinetobacter Baumannii and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Isolated from Industrial Wastewater
نویسندگان
چکیده
Nickel biosorption ability was evaluated in two bacterial strains: Acinetobacter baumannii UCR-2971 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa UCR-2957, resulting in greatest adsorption at pH 4.5 and a residence time of 100 minutes. Biosorption isotherms showed that the process follows the Langmuir model. The maximum adsorption rates (Nmax) were 8.8 and 5.7 mg·g for A. baumannii and P. aeruginosa, respectively; however, affinity constants suggest that P. aeruginosa (K=1.28) has higher affinity for nickel than A. baumannii (K=0.68). It is suggested that both strains could be used for wastewater treatment, as long as the concentration of Ni is within the range of mg·L.

Batch Studies on Biosorption of Chromium from Waste Water using Bacterial Cultures
Biosorption can be an effective technique for the treatment of heavy metal bearing waste water resulting from humuns and industrial activities. Several gram positive and gram negative bacteria have the ability to remove the heavy metals and there by making water contaminant free. It has been reported that attenuated bacterial biomass have greater biosorption capability than viable cells. In the...

Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a Gram-negative bacterium that causes severe hospital-acquired infections, is grouped as an ESKAPE (Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter species) pathogen because of its extensive drug resistance phenotypes and effects on human health worldwide. Five multidrug resistant P. ae...

The aim of the present study was to investigate the molecular mechanism of carbapenem resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates recovered from Libyan hospitals between April 2013 and April 2014. In total, 49 strains (24 P. aeruginosa and 25 A. baumannii) were isolated, including 21 P. aeruginosa and 22 A. baumannii isolates (87.75%) resistant to imipenem...

متن کاملClass 1 integrons in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii isolated from clinical isolates.
Resistance to various antimicrobial agents is an increasing problem in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii infections. In this study, the roles of integrons were examined in 101 P. aeruginosa isolates and 176 A. baumannii isolates from patients. The frequencies and characteristics of class 1, 2 and 3 integrons were investigated and the horizontal transfer of integrons was assesse...
